Privacy Policy — Price Matcher

1. Introduction
Price Matcher ("we", "our", "the extension") is a browser extension that helps e-commerce merchants compare their product prices against competitors. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how we store it, and how we share it.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following data to provide our service:
- Product titles and prices — read from the Shopify or WooCommerce product page you are currently viewing. This data is sent to our server to search for competitor prices.
- Browser fingerprint — a non-identifying hash generated from your browser's language, timezone, and platform. Used solely to manage free trial periods. This is not personally identifiable information.
- License key — if you are a paid subscriber, your license key is stored locally and sent to our server for validation.
- User preferences — your alert threshold setting, stored locally in your browser.
- Cached price results — competitor price data is cached locally in your browser for 12 hours to improve performance.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, or phone number through the extension.
- We do not collect browsing history or track which websites you visit.
- We do not collect financial or payment information (payments are handled entirely by Stripe).
- We do not collect authentication credentials or passwords.
- We do not collect personal communications.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not collect health information.
- We do not use cookies or tracking pixels.
4. How We Use Your Data
- Product titles are sent to our server, which queries third-party search APIs to find competitor prices. Product titles are not stored on our server.
- Browser fingerprints are stored on our server to track free trial start dates and prevent trial abuse. They cannot be used to identify you personally.
- License keys are validated against our server database to confirm active subscriptions.
- User preferences are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API and are never sent to any server.
5. Data Storage
- Local storage (your browser): License key, user preferences, cached price results, and browser fingerprint hash. This data is deleted when you uninstall the extension.
- Server storage (Supabase): Browser fingerprint hashes and trial start dates. License keys, subscription status, and associated email addresses (provided during Stripe checkout, not through the extension).
- Retention: Cached price data is automatically deleted after 12 hours. Server-side trial records are retained indefinitely. License records are retained for the duration of the subscription plus 30 days after cancellation.
6. Data Sharing
We share data with the following third-party services, solely to provide our service:
We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data to third parties. We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.
7. User Rights and Control
- Access: You can view all locally stored data by visiting chrome://extensions, clicking "Details" on Price Matcher, and inspecting storage.
- Deletion: Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data. To request deletion of server-side data (trial records, license records), email us at the address below.
- Opt-out: You can stop using the extension at any time by uninstalling it.
8. Children's Privacy
Price Matcher is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, secure database hosting, and access controls on our server infrastructure.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
